How to create a Microblogging site Like Twitter by Using WordPress

Build your own Twitter like site by using wordpress

You all know about Wordpress i think. It is the greatest Content Management System (CMS) in this time. You can use wordpress as many purposes such as photo blogging, social networking etc. Here i show you how you can create your own Twitter-like network by using wordpress. Why twitter like? You might ask. The answer is twitter bring revolutionary change in micro blogging concept and it is very much popular. You have not to be a web guru to make a site like twitter. Just follow the steps i described below you will see it is very easy. So lets start ......
  1. At first you need a latest copy of wordpress. You can download it from here. To install wordpress in your server follow their famous 5 minute installation guide. You can see their 5 minute installation guide here.
  2. I think you have installed wordpress quite easily. is not it fun? Now go to your recently installed wordpress site dashboard. In left hand side column of dashboard you will see theme function. Now click on add new theme button and then you will get a search bar. Write p2 theme on it and press inter at your key board. Now you have got p2 theme in your screen. install and activate it. Or you can go this way Download P2 theme from here . Now extract the archive on your hard drive and then upload this theme to the wp-content/theme directory of your WordPress install. Then, simply log in to WordPress, go to the dashboard, then to “theme” and activate the theme.
  3. Now take a look you will see a site like twitter. In P2 theme there no build in log in form. So to create a log in form you have to install sidebar log in widget and you can get it here. This widget will act like this manner, If the user isn’t logged in or have no account yet, it will display a log in form as well as a link to register, so the visitor can create his account.
    If the user is already logged in, it will display a link to log out as well as a link to account options, so the user can easily update his/her profile.
  4. If you want make your network private then install a plug in named Private WP. You can get it from here. Now extract the archive on your hard drive and then upload the private-wp to the wp-content/plugins directory of your WordPress install. Then, simply log in to WordPress, go to the dashboard, then to “Plugins” and activate the plugin. After this only registered users only can see your contents and unknown visitor visitors will automatically redirect to WordPress log in panel.
